MAURA AWARDS

The Maura Award is one of the highest honors given in our community for women helping women. Established in 1978 by the Women's Center of Dallas, the Women Helping Women Awards pay tribute to individuals for extraordinary contributions to the success and well-being of women and children in the Dallas Metroplex. In 1985, the awards were renamed the Maura Women Helping Women Awards to honor Maura McNiel, founding president of the Women's Center, who continues to set a standard of passion, spirit, and commitment for women's issues. When the Women's Center disbanded in 2001, Southern Methodist University continued, for three years, to present the awards.

2007 marked the inaugural Maura Women Helping Women Awards at our new home, The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future.
