Educational School Programs

The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future™, the nation's only comprehensive women's history museum, celebrates the lives, accomplishments, and achievements of American women. We support educators and students in their quest to meet state and national standards in education.

Educational programs and eclectic, interdisciplinary curriculum have been developed to enhance students' learning experiences at the museum. The multicultural curriculum uses methodologies that support state and national educational standards and stretch across a spectrum of grade levels.

The Women's Museum™ offers the following programs for school visits:

School Field Trips

A trained docent will guide students through the nation's only comprehensive history museum that focuses on the contributions of American women to society. Students will experience state-of-the-art exhibits, including audio, visual, and hands-on areas, as they discover how the achievements of women and their impact on history. Scavenger Hunts

A great introduction to The Women's Museum™! Students will scour the museum, looking for the answers to a variety of questions about the women featured in our exhibits. Our currently available scavenger hunts are:

  • Discover Jewish Women
  • Discover Native American Women
  • Discover Texas Women

Lesson Plans

Lesson plans have been developed to further enhance your Museum visit. These booklets are designed as adjunct materials to museum tours, but also work well as stand-alone classroom activities. Each booklet features a particular museum exhibit and offers activities suitable for pre-visit preparation, on-site enrichment, and ongoing exploration of exhibit themes.
