ACCOUNTANT ASSISTANT

Company Description: A Smithsonian Affiliate, The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future is the nation's only comprehensive women's history museum. The museum chronicles the lives of more than 3,000 American women using state-of-the-art interactive exhibits to explore their contributions throughout American history, and to examine the similarities and differences among women's lives across time.
Job Qualifications: The selected candidate will assist the Accounting Manager and executive management of the museum in all fiscal aspects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established policies and procedures. The candidate must be a self-starter and have excellent organizational skills and be highly motivated. In addition, the desired candidate will be proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. Intermediate computer skills with great attention to detail are necessary. Experience with non profit bookkeeping is a plus.
Specific duties may include:
- Assist in the preparation of all accounting transactions, including A/P, A/R, journal entries, etc.
- Prepare bank deposits
- Create and maintain vendor files and records
- Coordinate physical inventory of museum assets
- Assist in the monthly preparation of financial statements including: income statements, cash flow, forecasting
- Assist in monitoring the museum’s annual budget
- Review and update the museum’s operating policies and procedures
- Assist in the preparation and facilitation of the museum’s annual audit

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

The museum chronicles the lives of more than 3,000 American women using state-of-the-art interactive exhibits to explore their contributions throughout American history, and to examine the similarities and differences among women's lives across time.
Job Qualifications: The selected candidate will primarily support the Executive Officer with administrative and project coordination. The candidate must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, proficient in Office 2007, MS Outlook with a strong ability to prioritize and multi-task. Must posses strong interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills. Must have a positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges as they arise. Reliable transportation is a must.
Specific duties may include:
- Providing full executive level administrative support to the CEO.
- Assisting Event, Development, Marketing and Education Departments with special projects as they arise.
- Acting as liaison between Board of Directors and CEO.
- Maintaining minutes and records of board committees.
- Managing filing systems and office supplies inventory.
- Coordinating lunch meetings between CEO and external sources; includes notifications, attendance, preparation and booking travel.
- Handling daily correspondence as well as large general mailings.

OVERALL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidates must have a minimum 2.5 GPA overall, successful completion of at least twelve (12) hours of university coursework, six (6) hours in relates subject where applicable.
