Education : Children's Enrichment Program : ImagiStation

After visiting the exhibit, Tall in the Saddle: Cowgirls, Ranch Women & Rodeo Gals, stop by the ImagiStation on our 1st floor and our Reading Area on the 3rd floor!

Books and Activities on the 3rd floor exhibit area:

Book 1 – Hold your Horses, by Bonnie Timmons
For the millions of girls--and the women they grow into--who are mad about horses, who live to ride, who spend more time in stables than stores, who know the difference between a hock and the fetlock, comes a sweet, charming, wise, obsessive celebration of the bond between woman and horse.

Book 2 – Who Was Annie Oakley?, by Stephanie Spinner
She was a sharpshooting, horseback-riding symbol of the Wild West. An elegant little lady who was courted by European aristocracy and admired by queens. A determined and brilliant performer who dazzled audiences the world over. Find out more about the real Annie Oakley in this fun and exciting illustrated biography!

Book 3 – Women of the Range: Women’s Roles in the Texas Beef Cattle Industry, by Elizabeth Maret
Women may not fit the common image of a rancher, but on the range and in the ranch office women are at home. With their parents, children, and spouses – or alone – women own, manage, and do the daily work of ranching, as they have since pioneer days. Increasingly, they also fill the productive roles of the highly technological industry growing up around beef cattle.
