FIRST GLANCE

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt

When vistors walk into The Women's Museum, the first word out of their mouths is usually, "Wow!" as they are greeted by the impressive architecture and the wide open space of The AT&T Gathering. It is here that visitors encounter the first three impressive exhibits in the permanent collection.

Electronic Quilt Exhibit photo: girl looking at the Electronic Quilt The Electronic Quilt
Sponsored by AT&T
This signature icon of the museum towers more than 30 feet high at the north end of The AT&T Gathering. Made of a matrix of 35 image patches of illuminated photos, quotes, colors, and video cubes, it is comprised of still and moving images and words excerpted from all areas of the permanent exhibits. The Gathering sits in front of the Electronic Quilt, an inviting public space of The Women's Museum.

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Helen Keller

Wall of Words Exhibit photo: Wall of Words of the grand stairway Wall of Words
Sponsored by The Bank of America
As visitors ascend The Bank of America Grand Stairway, they climb past the Wall of Words to the beginning of the permanent exhibits. This gathering of wisdom and thoughts of women from throughout the Museum is a snapshot into the lives and times of women who dared to dream and achieve.

"Small plans have no magic to stir people's blood." Maggie Walker

In our interactive Wall of Words virtual exhibit, you can take a closer look at each one of the 12 inspirational quotes.

Send an e-card featuring a quote from the Wall of Words to inspire your friends, family and co-workers.

Diversity of Women Exhbibit photo: morph of several women's faces on red background Diversity of Women
At the entrance to the permanent exhibits, visitors encounter a screen showing the diversity of women from all races, cultures, and ages. Using morphing technology, the pictures of women's faces blend and merge.

"A woman's strength comes from being able to adapt and yet still be strong enough to fight back." Yuri Kochiyama
