Have you ever wondered how the roller coasters at the fair are created? Do you ever wonder how you'll use what you are learning in math class in the real world? Are you interested in playing interactive virtual math games, entering fun contests and engaging in live math events? If you answered "yes!" to any of the above questions then you must visit the Raytheon MathMovesU exhibit.
Raytheon believes tomorrow's engineers and technologists need to be excited by and interested in math today. With that, Raytheon created the innovative program called MathMovesU to engage students in math and science by illustrating the connection between math, their passions and interests and "cool" careers. The MathMovesU program connects math and science directly with students, engages them in fun contests, live events and an interactive website, MathMovesU.com.
There's more to Raytheon than being one of the top U.S. defense contractors. Raytheon's so committed to promoting math with students that it hosts 100 live MathMovesU events annually, is the title sponsor of the 2009-2010 National MATHCOUNTS competition, and awards $1 million annually in scholarships and grants to students, teachers and schools.
If you're looking for fun, visit Raytheon in the AT&T Gathering to create your own roller coaster, construct life-size tangram puzzles, relax in our Cyber Café and more.
